17 Refugee Students Receive Scholarships from German Fund

Since 2011 in the framework of “Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund” (DAFI) programme UN Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees /hereinafter UNHCR/ through its implementing partner “Mission Armenia” Charitable NGO /hereinafter MA NGO/ provides scholarships to the most needy refugee students to study in the Institutes of Higher Education of Armenia.

17 students displaced from Iraq, Iran, Georgia and Azerbaijan are involved as beneficiaries in the programme in Armenia.    

7 beneficiaries received scholarships for 2012-2013 academic years to pay education fees, as well as to cover expenses for necessary literature, stationary, transportation and other related accommodation expenses.

This year, within the frameworks of DAFI programme, in addition to the abovementioned 7 beneficiaries, another 10 needy refugee students from Iraq and Azerbaijan were given the opportunity to continue tertiary education on free of charge basis in the Institutes of Higher Education of the Republic.

In Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund (DAFI) on 10 October, 2012 UNHCR Armenia through its IP Mission Armenia organized DAFI Event in Golden Tulip Hotel.
